Picturesque Patmos has lovely beaches, white little houses, and stone benches at the edge of the hill with a view to the sea and paved squares from where somebody can admire the blue expanse of the Aegean Sea.
The magnificent Monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologos, which is on the top of the mountain, overlooks the island. In Patmos somebody can also visit the Apocalypse cave where, according to tradition Agios Ioannis wrote the Apocalypse.

How to get to Patmos
By ferry from Piraeus, tel. 210-4226000-4, 210-4511310-17 or by ferry from and to Kalymnos and Samos
By plane to Samos or Leros and then flying dolphin or ship
By flyinh dolphin , everyday from Rhodes and Kos

Transport in Patmos
You can take a bus, a taxi or a caique (small boat)
You can also hire a car or a motorcycle in Patmos

It’s worth visiting:
· The library which has rare manuscripts, 2.000 books and 13. document
· Zoodohou Pigi Monastery in Chora, a typical island temple, with wonderful icons of the 16th and 18th century
· The Koinovio of Evangelismos in the south of Chora. There are many school of Patmos embroidery
· The famous Patmiada School, which was set up in 1713, and it was an important center of the enslaved Greeks. Especially, during the revolution of 1821 it operated as a seven-class religious school, while, at times, its students were made religious leaders. Nowadays it remains a religious school, acknowledged by the state
· The Church Museum which is housed in the Monastery and it has valuable church relics, icons etc.
· Seamanteri’s mansion where there is a folklore museum with antique furniture, paintings, photographs etc.
· The cave of Apokalypse, on the way from Skala (port) to Chora, where according to tradition, Saint Ioannis wrote the Apokalypsis, when he got to Patmos in 95 AD, exiled by the Romans.
